The Best Hope for Republicans:
The Clintons
Byron A. Ellis
January 31, 2006
Some Democrats, particularly the old
guard, have not critically examined the adverse electoral outcome of their
affinity to the Clintons. However, the Republicans, who have demonstrated
greater strategic abilities, are delighted at the prospect of a Billary
candidacy.
Morality in the White House will
come to the forefront as an issue with the Clintons. And, it is an issue
that will stick with voters, including many Democrats.
A few old guard Democrats are now
coming to understand that a Billary ticket against any Republican prospect
is likely to be a loosing ticket.
Furthermore, if Billary prevails on
super-Tuesday, the viability of a successful third party is enhanced.
Democrats fail to win presidential
elections because they are more emotional than logical.
Once the Republicans begin to
resurrect the behavior of the Clintons’ presidency, the Democratic
constituency will not be large enough to garner a majority of votes. And, if
a third party emerges, their faith is sealed.
Democrats stand a better chance with
Mr. Obama as their standard bearer than with the Clintons.
