| 1. | Who is the audience of your new book
entitled, The Path of Life Guidebook: A Spirit, Mind, and Body
Journal? The Path of Life Guidebook is a general interest book in that anyone who would like to know a direction, that when taken, will result in a healthy, successful, and satisfying life, will consider this an important “must read” on their list. I wrote this book to bring enhanced clarity with regard to what defines health, success, and satisfaction to the Body of Christ as well as to those outside of the safety of Christ’s Kingdom. Some of my acquaintances, and perhaps yours as well, spend a considerable amount of time complaining about how life for them is not “quite as good” as it should be. In comparison to the sufferings of many peoples throughout the world, those of us who believe that there is such a thing as “maturity in Christ” think otherwise, therefore, this book is needed. By reading the book, it is my hope that no justification will remain for men, women, boys, and girls, who choose to believe that life cannot be even more than they can imagine (Ephesians 3:20). The core concept here is basically living life abundantly as our Lord has commanded, despite what we see in the “natural.” Some of must walk for days, months, even years until God reveals His glory through us in a magnificent “spiritual”, not “American Idol” way. He will “exalt you in due time,” according to 1 Peter 5:6. Of equal importance, each “success” no matter how small can be a cause for praise and celebration unto our Heavenly Father. (The listener is also encouraged to meditate on Ephesians 3:20, John 10:10, and Isaiah chapter 54). As Christians we are called to be good listeners. We know that we love God because we listen and obey God. Also, our hearts and minds should be open to the expressed needs and concerns of those people who God has placed in our lives, personally, as well as those in our local, state, national, and international communities as well. We need to know what other people are thinking. We need to read books, act on right precepts, and not be content living within our own narrowly centered self-contained world. |
| 2. | What is
The Path of Life Guidebook about? Describe the book for us.
The Path of Life Guidebook identifies spirit, mind, and body
principles that result in healthy, successful, and satisfying lives.
The reader is introduced to “laws of attraction” with instructions and
exercises that enhance spirituality, mental health, strength, energy,
improved appearance, and overall wellness from a Christian perspective.
Also, policy makers and educators will benefit from discussions on how enhancing the quality of life for individuals improves society at large. Our relationship first with ourselves before God, and then with others impacts families, communities and the world. The Path of Life Guidebook addresses how to establish right relationships first and foremost in our personal lives and homes from a caregiver standpoint, but furthermore in education, careers, and civic society. The guidebook provides a framework for day-to-day living that when followed gives the reader a “winner vs. a victim” perspective on life, but not in an arrogant sense. Without a doubt, many of us have been victimized by others as well as circumstances under Satanic influence, but we must not remain in that condition. We have to let go and let God lead us out to live in His victory. My maxim is that the worse thing a person can do is “to feel sorry for their self.” We have been given abundant life through Jesus Christ in the Spirit, after we truly receive this, “in the Spirit”, we can begin to believe that “no weapon formed against us will prosper.” (Isaiah 54:17) We understand that, ultimately, God will receive glory through our life lived unto Him. Though we may be experiencing trials, tribulations, and daily temptations, God is working as a loving father, to prepare us for His business. God has a business plan and He has an assignment for each one of His children every day. If we are attuned in the Spirit, we will know exactly how to give Him glory every day of our lives, regardless if the circumstances are “up” or if they are “down”, even “way down.” |
| 3. | Why did
you write The Path of Life Guidebook? I wrote this book
because I found that it was placed within my spirit through my prayer
life to do so. I have journaled my prayer life and actions for years,
sometimes more consistently than others. I have an intense prayer life
and I don’t really understand how people think that they can have a
“quality of life” without one. We all need a well-developed prayer life. For example, people choose their majors in college, career path, friends and even their marital spouses without thinking to pray about these choices. There are those at the other side of the pendulum, like me, who pray their way through the day; from sun up to sun down. My eyes are not closed, obviously, however, I am always attuned and listening for divine guidance within my spirit. My spiritual radar is always set on a “Receiving Mode.” So in this book, I give the reader practical advice on having a daily prayer, exercise, and nutrition plan, in addition to recommendations on principle “life issues” or “laws of attraction” that, when practiced achieves a “quality of life” goal that benefits their self, family, and world community. |
| 4. | Is your
book an inspirational, religion, or a spirituality book? My book is an inspirational book in that its purpose is to empower the readers of it to live in victory and not in defeat whether they have, or don’t have, fame, fortune, or other false designations for truly successful, satisfying, and healthy living. Holistically speaking from a spirit, mind, and body Christian worldview, I do not attempt to confront religious controversies, however, I’m sure just by the subject matter of the book, many people will find the theme itself confrontational. Health and fitness methods imply boundaries that we must place on our daily living habits, or an accountability unto God, our families, and ourselves. In the book, spirituality is emphasized and I provide an outline for prayer methods that readers should find helpful. |
| 5. | Tell us
about your spiritual journey. My spiritual journey began at age 14 when I received Christ as Savior through the teachings and experiences received through my church, The First Baptist Church of Vandalia, in Charleston, West Virginia. While attending college, I had a baptism in the Spirit experience. I, subsequently, experienced and continue to do so, many of the gifts found in 1 Corinthians Chapter 12. I am, now, a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, however I, also, attend various denominational Christian services and study groups. |
| 6. | What
education and career experiences have you had? I attended Spelman College in Atlanta, GA where I received a B.S. in Chemistry in 1978. Two years later, I entered the Pennsylvania College of Optometry where I received an O.D., Doctor of Optometry degree, in 1984. Upon graduation, I practiced licensed eye care as an Optometrist for fifteen years in various private practice, commercial, and military settings. In 2000, I left optometric practice to spend more time with my family, which consists of, a husband of more than 25 years, and five daughters, ages 7 through 23. During this period, I also obtained a Ph.D. in higher education from Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD in 2006. Presently, I am the Co-Founder and Program Director of Harambee Conference, LLC, an educational network conference, with the mission of promoting the Harambee principle of “pulling together” in communities (please visit our website for more details at www.harambeeconference.com). I am also certified by the American Council on Exercise as a Group Fitness Instructor. |
| 7. | What would
you say to those of us who feel like it is just too difficult to follow
a health and fitness plan? I would say I know, first-hand, how difficult it is. Believe me, I personally struggle with keeping up with the program and standards practically everyday. I wrote this book “to hold the mirror up” so to speak, also, for myself. We often feel that schedules and rituals are just plain bad, but when we see the results, or outcomes, for those who follow the program, we realize their benefit. Submitting our will to be involved in beneficial programs is the right thing to do. n Rituals can be comforting to us. n Rituals/Schedules/Programs help us to achieve goals, that we very often, otherwise would not achieve if we fail to observe them. n Religious rituals include baptisms, communions, confirmations, weddings, and funerals. Think of how important these type services truly are to so many. n There are education rituals like orientation week, spring break, finals week, graduation and baccalaureate ceremonies. n There are career rituals like years of service, holiday office parties, and retirement celebrations among others. Health and fitness rituals/assessments should be observed also, personally by you, and with your doctor on a routine basis. The Path of Life Guidebook provides a framework for personal assessment of spiritual, health, and fitness guidelines from a Christian context. |
| 8. | Your book
doesn’t talk a lot about desserts. In fact, you don’t mention them,
isn’t this a serious omission? My main emphasis is balance and moderation in all things. Recently, I did attend a banquet and everyone at my table must have noticed that I took two dessert plates when every one else took none or one. What I probably should have communicated to them that I rarely eat desserts except at banquets. My at home meals are ritual. They, generally, do not include desserts, so I allow myself to enjoy banquet occasions within reason. My exercise schedule burns calories in that I now try to maintain a schedule of 45 minutes to an hour 5 days a week, except if I’m sick, or priorities demand otherwise. I do, sometimes, put my scheduling on hold, but rarely, and only for exceptionally, good reason. |
| 9. | Do you have
book-signing events scheduled in our area?
Yes, in the Baltimore/Washington Area Region. |
| 10. | What is the
price of the book? Where will readers be able to purchase and/or

appearances?
The retail price is $15.00. Readers may purchase it through my website, www.thepathoflifeguidebook.com and through bookstores. I can be contacted via this website for speaking engagements, conferences, and book signings as well. |
