The Politics of Racial Division
By Byron A. Ellis,

The Clintons are close to achieving
their objective of a divided Democratic Party and delivering the presidency
to McCain. To achieve their objective of preventing Obama from winning the
presidency, they have implemented a kamikaze strategy to divide the
Democratic Party into blue-collar poor whites on one side and wealthy
liberals and African Americans on the other side. What a gift to the
Republicans.
Why would they destroy the Party
that propelled them into the White House? Only two reasons appear plausible:
The first is that they are selfish and self-centered and the second is that
they do not believe that a minority is worthy of the presidency of the
United States.
Many African Americans believe that
the latter is the more plausible scenario. And, Clinton’s lack of
intervention in the Rwandan massacre adds credence to that view. Moreover,
the Clintonian drumbeat that poor whites would not vote for Obama appears to
be a play on racial stereotyping. Otherwise, the drumbeat would have been
that poor people in general would not vote for Obama.
The Clintons also used the divisive
strategy in Texas with Latinos by creating interplay of opposites between
African Americans and Hispanics. However, they failed to recognize that
Hispanics encompasses a variety of ethnicities and Afro-Hispanics comprise a
large portion of Hispanics in the United States; and, they too are concern
about the Clintonian racial overtone.
It is also quite evident that
pundits and news commentators with Clintonian leanings are implementing the
same strategy of Balkanizing the electorate. Likewise, CNN’s tendency to
divide the electorate by race, class, age and so on contributes to the
climate of divisiveness.
The CNN and Clintonian racial
overtone is appalling to many Americans of all persuasions. We do not need a
balkanized country; we’ve seen the detrimental effects of balkanization.
Politicians and newscaster with such tendencies are not good for any nation.
