The gay community is adamantly opposed to labeling sexual behavior as a “lifestyle choice.” Thus, they have forced the Whitehouse Senior Advisor, Valerie Jarrett, to apologize for referring to homosexuality as a “ lifestyle choice.” However, homosexuality is undeniable a choice. In fact some gays are bisexual, choosing to practice homosexual and heterosexual behaviors. Gays, however, understand that if they label their behaviors as a choice it becomes less acceptable to the general public. It is, nevertheless, sad that Ms. Jarrett would apologize for her beliefs and it reaffirms the character of the administration. The aggressive response by the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) groups to Ms. Jarrett’s use of “Choice lifestyle” should remind us of Genesis 19. In Genesis 19, two angels visited Sodom, and Lot invited them into his house, but before they when to sleep the men of Sodom surrounded the house and wanted to have sexual relationship with them. Lot instead offered his daughters who had not known men, but the men of Sodom continued to aggressively seek the angels. However, the angels struck the men at the door with blindness and punished the city of Sodom and Gomorrah. Listening to National Public Radio (NPR) on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, I heard about the “It gets better” gay campaign. NPR’s Melissa Block conversation with Dan Savage, the author on the online video “Its get better.” He claimed that he and his husband are making an end run around parents to talk their kids about gayness. When society mainstreams unnatural behaviors as in the days of Lot, practitioners will become aggressive. Recruiting in all public venues and Mr. Savage’s online venture is just the beginning. According to the Bible, unnatural behaviors (Romans 1:26-27, 2 Timothy 3:3, Corinthians 6:9-19, and 2 Peter 2:10) are sinful. Yet, Mr. Savage and his cohorts want to impose their views on our kids. The online video appears to be an attempt to recruit our children into the unchristian lifestyle of unnatural relationships. Their narrative of equating lifestyle choices with civil rights has been quite successful. However, it is a slippery slope, since behaviors are not innate characteristics. Therefore, it now becomes plausible to use similar narratives to mainstream other antisocial tendencies, such as pedophilia, robbery, or even murderer. Therefore, it is important for Christians to remain watchful and not internalize or support unchristian behaviors. Post Comment
