Laughable: Three-Hour Recess from Israeli Carnage
Byron A. Ellis – January 08, 2009

After bombing schools and Mosques, Israel gives Palestinians in Gaza three hours to walk around and feed themselves before they proceed to kill and injure more civilians. Why do Americans continue to support with their tax dollars a terrorist state that destabilizes the Middle East?

Destabilization of the Middle East affects the pocket book of American taxpayers, like the invasion of Iraq; it causes the price of crude oil to increase. But, the government and the media will tell the American public that the rise in crude oil prices is due to supply and demand.

However, Middle East destabilization causes supply uncertainties and hence prices increases. Crude oil price increases reduce the real income of Americans. Thus, Israeli terror is not beneficial to the average American.

Nonetheless, Israel is the top recipient of U.S. foreign aid. Since 1979 it has received $3 billion dollars annually, which includes $2.4 billion in military aid.

And, Egypt receives the second largest aid package from the U.S., $1.3 billion in military aid and $415 million in civilian aid.

With billions of dollars in American military aid why would either Israel or Egypt want regional peace?

Peace in the region would, more likely than not, lead to a reduction in U.S. military aid.

Thus, it is always advantageous for Israel to create conflict with its neighbors. Conflict guarantees the flow of American taxpayers military aid to Israel.

U.S. military aid to Israel has been used to oppress and rob their neighbors. Both, Republican and Democratic administrations have been complicit in supporting Israeli terror in the Middle East. As a result, neither party has had the will and fairness of spirit to bring about peace in the region.

Therefore, it is time for Americans of good will to form a new coalition that is truly engaged in changing the status quo.

We know from Obama’s victory that a coalition of Hispanics, progressive whites, particularly white women, and blacks can succeed politically. We also know that such a coalition can fund itself.

It is time to introduce true change to America’s body politics through a viable third party.
