The occupation of Palestine is anti-Christian
By Byron A. Ellis – September 22, 2010

The occupation of Palestine by Israel is an interesting Christian paradox. European Jews persecuted by Hitler now persecute and subjugate others with the support of Christina in the West. If persecution of European Jews is unacceptable, why is it acceptable for European Jews to occupy and subjugate Palestinians?

It is particularly troublesome when those who proclaim to follow Christ support Israel’s occupation and subjugation of Palestine. When, in Matthew 7:12, Jesus sums up the law of the Prophets indicating that in everything we do, we should do on to others what we would like them do to us.

Clearly, when Christians support the occupation and subjugation of Palestinian, they do not mirror Christ. Moreover, they are failing Christ’s Great Commission, to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything he commanded (Matt. 28:18-19).

Surely, Christians cannot make disciples of nations that they mistreat. Thus, it is impossible to reflect Christ by subjugating our brothers and sisters. When Christians subjugate others, they put a stumbling block in their sisters and brothers path to Christ.

It would be a great victory for Christ when the body of Christian believers in unison rejects worldwide oppression.
